The drug test issue is intended as a direct attack on Hillary and her staff. Trump is pushing them out of their comfort zone.
He is telling them "I know what you are doing. She is sick and on drugs...and being propped up by you guys on her staff."
If you are not interested or if the "drug test" issue doesn't register for you, ignore it.
The Clinton folks aren't ignoring it.
This is exactly what our generals do to enemy generals before a battle.
This is psy-ops.

This has nothing to do with being "on message". If the networks go wall to wall with the "Trump Tape" and manufactured accusations (ignoring the Wikileaks/O'Keefe/etc.), Trump has to break through, and a policy statement on the VA won't do it. He says something that on the surface sounds outrageous, so it gets beamed, but there is a message within the message. Most people can picture Trump's coming back positive for a statin, and HRC's coming back positive for a long list of words with "-izine" and "-idyl" and more "x"s and "z"s than we are used to seeing, most of which have been hidden from view.
The Ryan smackdown is necessary because of the crap in Ohio and with the big donors. If you don't do that, you get more penny-ante garbage from your enemies within, and you have a bigger problem.
