The United States on Friday criticized Israeli policies in Judea and Samaria during a UN Security Council discussion on the issue.
The meeting, titled "Illegal Israeli Settlements: Obstacles to Peace and the Two-State Solution," was informal and did not involve a vote. It was held at the initiative of Egypt, Venezuela, Malaysia, Senegal and Angola.
The U.S. representative to the session, Deputy U.S. Ambassador to the UN David Pressman, said Washington is "deeply concerned and strongly opposes settlements which are corrosive to peace," according to Haaretz.
Pressman added that Israeli activities in Judea and Samaria, primarily construction of new communities, “create a one state reality on the ground."
The U.S. calls on both sides to adopt policies and take immediate steps toward "implementing the two-state solution," he said, according to Haaretz.
At the same time, Pressman also condemned Palestinian Arab terror attacks on Israelis, and said that figures who incite violence are sending a message to the international community that they aren't interested in peace.
The remarks mark the latest incident in which American officials have condemned Israeli construction projects in Judea and Samaria.
The State Department this past summer used unusually harsh language in condemning plans to build 770 new housing units in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Gilo and describing them as “corrosive” to peace.

Everyone can officially consider me NOT part of the United States that in any way opposes Israel or supports the doubly so-called “Palestinian” “refugees”.
1. the socalled settlements are not illegal
2. they are cities, towns, communities for (mostly or largely) the young families who need housing. they are no more “settlements” than are Del Rio Texas, Sheridan Wyoming, or South Bend Indiana.
3. O is the enemy of America (and Israel and UK and most of Christian peoples everywhere)
4. please pray for America, that the good Lord will forgive us for these past 7.9 years allowing an enemy agent to “speak for us”
The UN did not grant Israel ownership of their land - the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob did. Their ownership was not given to them by the Balfour Declaration in 1917, or Resolution 181, the Partition Plan of Palestine in 1947, but by God Himself, because that land did not belong to the UN. They took possession of the land when they crossed over the Jordan River and entered the city of Jericho, after wandering in the wilderness for 40 years. The Jews must take possession of their land or lose it. When the Israelis decide to fight for their land against the UN and the rest of the world, then it will be theirs...the last Song of Moses in the Haazinu in the book of Deuteronomy says: “He will bring retribution upon His foes and He will atone for His Land and His People.”
The Judean Peoples’ Front won’t be happy.
