How effective are TV ads these days? How many likely voters watch TV the conventional way with ads? How many are watching in others ways without the ads?

Obama had a big advantage because his people were way ahead on new media, and all that that meant for messaging and GOTV.
TV ads? It's not the 80s or 90s anymore. DVR, VOD, Netflix....Who has to sit through TV ads anymore?
Of course, maybe Doug knows something I don't, and I'm talking $hit, but I just don't see how traditional TV ads can possibly have the same impact they did way "back in the day."
Do we ever reach the point at which oversaturation with ads will actually annoy viewers/listeners to the point that they will favor the candidate with fewer ads?
