King Bhumibol Adulyadej lives long in my heart, from my youth in the ‘60’s living in Thailand even through my entire life I have remembered well, those years living there among a very kind people whom I hold dear in my heart.
King Bhumibol Adulyadej was a wonderful person and I am truly touched this day with his loss. My deepest and sincere condolences to the gracious Thai’s who loved their King and Queen dearly.
We were there a couple years ago during which the King’s birthday was celebrated. Generally, the people there loved their King. Only the commie agitators did not like him...they were few.
Like European Christian kings of the past, however wretched or debauched his private life may be (I have no idea about King Bhumibol I haven’t followed his life) at least in public, the Thai nation expects him to show the virtues of justice, peace, tolerance, humility, self-sacrifice - all excellent Buddhist ideals. In this, I have respect for Him and the institution. Both unite the people toward admirable ideals and behavior.
It sounds obvious this would be the case — but in fact, there are many nations and cultures who simply have never had such values. Moreover, there are those who once had them, but now look down on these common virtues.

He was an American. Born in Massachussetts hospital while his parents were students at Harvard.
A friend of mine who lives there part time says the populace doesn’t like the King’s son the Crown Prince, soon to be King. Could be some problems.
Loving farewell to the best King on Earth.
Politically, I do not support monarchy, because humans are so widely flawed, and so vulnerable to the temptations of power.
It is the rare person who rises to the noble standard of real service to people and dedication to developing moral character.
We were blessed in the United States to have such an exceptional man in George Washington at a critical time for the Nation, and Thailand was blessed to have such an exceptional man as King Bhumibol. Through wars and subversive assault by communists, he has been a great guiding light for the Thai people. He truly was the rare man worthy of a crown.
Love to his family and the Thai People, and honor to the memory of the greatest King of his time.
Very sad indeed. Our concern is directed to the Thai people he was so supportive of and cared about. He won’t be replaced but I hope for the best from his son.
Condolences to the nation of Thailand on the death of His Majesty King Bhumipol Adulyadej. My fondest memory of him will always be watching the television as he calls in and scolds the leaders of two opposing coup factions who, in his presence, acted like naughty schoolboys. “This is our home! It is useless to live on burnt ruins”.
May he rest in peace.

I got to see His Majesty up close once as he passed by in his Rolls Royce , at Wat Phra Keo , as he was departing after performing the ‘changing of the robes ‘ ceremony during Wan Veesaka Puja . I was among thousands standing by at roadside waiting to go in . It was a rare blessing and a great honor . We looked into each others eyes for a brief mili second . I pray for Queen Sirikit Phra Ratchanee Nat . She herself is not doing s well .
I hope His Majesty can go sailing every day up in Heaven
Yes, apparently Queen Sirikit as also suffering the ravages of age. Sad to say.
