I remember “Coronation Street” on BBC when I was a kid. As sordid as the US soaps.

It can be pretty sordid these days but back-in-the-day it certainly wasn’t. It’s an ITV show, and at times the nearest it came to scandal was wondering if Betty’s hotpot in the local pub (The Rovers Return) would burn. Although bad guy Alan Bradley did die underneath a tram in Blackpool which held the nation enthralled.

Nothing sordid about William Roache either. A decent man who was proved innocent of those foul charges.

We live in an age when a man’s reputation can be utterly destroyed in an instant. It took Mr Roache over a year to clear his name. Mr Trump has under 30 days.

Me too! My dad was stationed at Northolt in the 50s/60s. Can’t believe it’s still on. Favorite line was “What are you looking at, specky 4 eyes?” to a woman wearing glasses. I died laughing. Of course I was only 6.
