After the actor’s 30-year-old ex-girlfriend Cathriona White committed suicide in her Los Angeles home last September, her mother has now filed a lawsuit against Carrey blaming him for her death.
In court papers filed this week, Brigid Sweetman accuses Carrey of giving White three sexual transmitted infections that made her suicidal, along with shaming and threatening her to remain silent.
“Sweetman says Carrey was first dismissive and then claimed she contracted any disease she might have from someone else,” TMZ reported Tuesday. “The suit claims Cathriona struggled emotionally before OD’ing on Ambien, Propranolol and Percocet.”

I have been hearing that Carrey was ‘bugged up’ for years.
Whoever fooled around with him should have been aware.
That fact does NOT excuse knowing transmission of STDs.
Jim Carrey is pretty low on the scale of human right now.
Yes, he can act emote as a professional actor, but does he really feel responsible for anything he does?

I think the only way you can be held legally responsible for another adult’s suicide is if you did it. i.e. it wasn’t suicide.
But I say that under the vein of “what is legal is not necessarily moral and what is moral is not necessarily legal.”
The plaintiffs may be able to squeeze a settlement out of him before some judge rules against them. Either way, they have exacted a measure of vengeance through this publicity.

Carrey's going to have to explain how a couple of the prescription pill bottles used in the suicide had his prescription "alias(es)" on them.
That'll up the lawyers fees.
Well, he can dispell any of that by releasing his medical report(s). If it’s false he has nothing to hide.
Fornication plus poor choices has consequences? Perhaps the mother is at fault for not teaching proper moral standards to her daughter. If she did, and the message just didn’t take, then it is all on the deceased daughter.
Did he know he was infected? Did he have sex with her anyway? Did she know ?
I know a lot of people don’t like Carrey, but his girlfriend had a lot of problems.
These are civil proceedings.

Yeah, but still. I was on a couple of complex medical civil trial juries a few decades ago. What plaintiffs try to get away with is shocking.
I’m no fan of anything he did, but there is no way I’d find against him unless they can prove he, with intent, caused her to commit suicide.
I hate making people responsible for the voluntary actions of others.

IANAL but this sounds frivolous and without merit to me. Thousands, if not millions, of people contract STD’s without becoming suicidal. The STD infection sounds like an excuse for something she would have done anyway.
