A doctor in an independent practice is incentivized to drop out of Medicare.
The loss of many doctors in their late 40s and 50s (to retirement and self pay practices) will result in productivity losses for the entire system and increased waiting time.
Small practices are incentivized to sell to big Healthcare complexes, which then are incentivized to turn the doctors into data entry clerks.
I can’t pronounce the names of about 80% of the doctors in central Florida. :(
It requires 2-2.5 new doctors to replace one old one, because they aren't making them like they used to.
