Looking into the camera to the TV audience works very well. Trump has great stage presence and on-camera star quality, a soothing voice.
From now on he should just “no comment” anything off topic and keep the spotlight on security, economy, taxes and restoring dignity to government.
He’s made his point about Bill Clinton, that can be left behind now.
The e-mail scandal has some life left in it, perhaps, but frankly I don’t think most voters care about that very much.
It’s now all about getting votes back from Gary Johnson, soft democrats who don’t like Hillary, and people who don’t usually vote. Brainstorm what those people are looking for and if you can incorporate it without abandoning core principles, then do it. He’s got the assembled talent to figure this out.
On Russia, he needs to establish what I think is his true position anyway, he’s not as close to Putin as some have concluded, but he’s just not fixated on a pissing contest with a considerable power who could quite easily be our ally in more important fights than east Ukraine. But the Baltics are not up for grabs. That would set the right tone and signal to Moscow that Trump is not “their guy.”
As to the breathing, that actually works fairly well, he sounds and looks like an angry bull looking to charge at his enemies.
