I’m tutoring and the common core books are something else. The math is downright silly. I was told by the student that the teacher didn’t like it and didn’t understand it. The Literature assignment worksheet for 6th grade asked a question at the end for the student to complete. . .it went something like “how do you handle conflict at home?”
I understand there is tremendous tension in the teaching profession over the curriculum with quite a few retirements linked to it.
But the astroturf conservative opposition to it is not going to stop the curriculum, that’s for sure.
Big Business and Big Government come together in promotion of public education and the Uniparty Corporatist politicians worship at the altar of funding education in the end and if the legislators come under public pressure the judiciary rules that states must spend “x” amount of dollars on public education.
Perhaps stories like yours should fuel a “Go Galt” approach to education in protest from legislative bodies.....
