Editor’s note: On Friday, WikiLeaks released 2,060 emails that the group says come from top Hillary Clinton aide John Podesta’s Gmail account. According to NBC News, an initial review of the emails shows numerous communications involving a New York Times story over a uranium deal while Clinton was at the State Department, communications about campaign messaging strategy and a comment about a CNN cable anchor. BuzzFeed later reported that the leaked emails also appeared to show excerpts from Clinton’s closed-door paid speeches, including to financial firms, which were a big point of contention during this year’s primary contest. Clinton’s campaign officials have not confirmed the authenticity of these emails. The leaks were released the same day that US officials said they are “confident” Russian government directed recent hacking incidents against the DNC and other political institutions. - Imana
