Several conservative lawmakers say the election of Donald Trump as president could advance their agenda. Despite Trump's history of liberal policy stances, Republican Study Committee Chairman Bill Flores says that the GOP presidential nominee is embracing key issues in the House GOP's "A Better Way" agenda on the campaign trail.
"Donald Trump's been going at it in his own interesting way of doing it ... he talks about repealing and replacing ObamaCare ... he's talking about tax reform. It's not the tax reform in [our agenda], but he's talking about tax reform, so we can sit down and work those out," Flores, a Texas Republican whos a former businessman himself, says in an interview with The Hill's Molly K. Hooper. Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), a fellow conservative who was co-chairman of Sen. Ted Cruzs (R-Texas) presidential campaign, also points to Cruz's recent endorsement as a positive sign that Congress and a Trump White House could get things done. "It helps the two of them be able to work together. If Trump is president, Cruz will be a more effective senator because of this endorsement he's making," King says in an interview.

Otherwise just see how conservative ideas would fare in a Hillary Clinton presidency.
it is about fing time a$$hole republican bureaucrats.
“Despite Trump’s history of liberal policy stances,”
I bet they cannot find 5. Maybe 1 and that is the child care thing.
First they have to decide if they are on the side of the citizens and the rule of law or on the side of illegal aliens and their employers.
Up to now most of them have not been with the citizens.
At this point I’d live with a few questionable policy stances for a return to the rule of law. A conservative SCOTUS can strike down anything wild, we would have that under Trump. A Clinton admin and liberal/Progressive SCOTUS will be the final nails in the coffin of this nation.
So true Jim, so true.
.. he's talking about tax reform. It's not the tax reform in [our agenda], but he's talking about tax reform, so we can sit down and work those out,"I say go to hell.
You in congress have been "talking" through your asses and kissing Obama's ass giving him everything he wants. NOW you want to talk? F OFF.
Now that it's a real possibility he's going to win, you all want to get on the Trump train and "negotiate" what YOU want...I say get on the Trump train 100% or get off at the next crossing and go to hell.
Not one of you were any help in getting him where he is... NOT ONE. In fact if you phonies had your way he wouldn't be where he is. You fought him and bad mothed him every step of the way. NOW YOU WANT TO PUT YOUR NAME ON HIS PLAN(S)?...
POUND SAND!
Trump’s presidency will be more conservative than Reagan’s.
Yes sir John! tagline
This is simply morons like King and cruz trying to glom onto a Trump presidency to try to advance their TPP, globalism, a fight with Russia over Aleppo, and other fun ideas that the voters have rejected.
Oh, and they will call them “conservative” ideas.
This is the danger now for Trump. That the GOP will swamp him with the same people and same establishment ideas. They intend to co-opt him and be the Bush to his Reagan.
You have a genius for misrepresentation.
I calls em as I see em. They haven’t suddenly seen the light and want to advance a Trump agenda. They simply are acting friendly to get a seat at the table so they can try to steer it all their way.
King even said so with that... “Trump isn’t doing tax reform the way we envisioned, but we can talk about that later”. His intent couldn’t be any more clear...
If you see Cruz and King as "globalists", you see them thru a fog of misrepresentations.
Moreover, disagreeing with Trump on the details of tax reform is hardly being anti-Trump. Trump himself has allowed that his plan is subject to negotiation.
Trump’s #1 theme is that he is a great negotiator.
Will he negotiate with the McConnell-Isaackson types?
Or with the Cruz-Lee-Rubio types?
It may come down to which type of Senator will negotiate with Trump as opposed to
a) refusing to negotiate with him because he is who he is
or
b) refusing to negotiate with him because their principles are non-negotiable.... as if differences between the FAIR tax and FLAT tax are principles.
