Clean you plate. Don’t you know there’s poor children in China starving?
It’s not about portion size it’s about cleaning your plate and not wasting food. I agree there’s too much waste. I posted just a couple days ago on that particular soap box. American might as well throw money out the window as it’s the same as throwing food in the garbage. If you can’t eat it all, eat it later, give it to the dog or freeze it. But don’t leave it to be trashed.
There’s also no reason to let food rot in the fridge. You worked to earn the money for it and you drove to the grocery store and spent time there for what? To throw it in the garbage? That’s ridiculous.
If you want to know about restaurant waste, talk to state and federal health and safety regulators. Then ex-Mayor Bloomberg who managed to pass a law that forbade healthy, good leftover food from being distributed to the poor and needy.
Also, blame the ill-design of modern day refrigerators in which it’s easy for food to be forgotten in dark crispers and dark corners at the back, behind the pickle jar.
I agree to an extent. Hearing you say it is fine, hearing a gov’t official say it is NOT fine.
In my house, it gets thrown out if it goes bad. Red meat, cut off the bad portion and eat it. I do all the time, and haven’t gotten sick yet. I used to work in a restaurant and you wouldn’t believe what the burger looked like that we used for taco meat. Cheese, the mold is natural. Cut it off and eat the good.
