Moscow. 2 October. INTERFAX.RU - All-Russian Emergency Situations Ministry will hold a training session for civil defense, which will cover more than 40 million people, according to "Interfax" the director of the Civil Defence Department of the Ministry Oleg Manuilov.
"Training will be held from October 4 to 7 will be attended by more than 40 million people, more than 200 thousand professionals rescue units, 50 thousand pieces of equipment..." - He said.
federal agencies are involved in the executive, heads of regions, local authorities and organizations.
Also working out of civil defense will involve abnormal emergency rescue teams. During the training will be a reality check drawn up plans for different periods and the commitment of all forces and means to act.
"In practice, the notification will be worked out and collect the governing federal departments and agencies, executive bodies of subjects of the Russian Federation and local self-government", - said Manuilov. There will be worked out action by the evacuation issue of personal protective equipment, sanitary, deployment obmyvochnyh points.
"In addition, the alert will be given civil defense structures In coordination with the regional and municipal authorities will be checked by the system of emergency population warning of disaster occurrence, or the threat thereof." - Said Manuilov.

The scope of this and related articles and the closeness of their timing is alarming. It is about as coincidental as the half dozen near-simultaneous undersea internet cable “breaks” that occurred a few years back.
The Russian CD drill takes place entirely within Aseret Yemei Teshuva - the Ten Days of Repentance - beginning on Rosh Hashanah and culminating on Yom Kippur.....
Like Israelis, the Russians are very practical and don’t waste time, resources, or energy on unnecessary activities.
Everyone is getting too worried about this. What “civilian defense day” means for most Russians is more like a company won’t work that day, but rather hires a bus and takes all the employees to some forest. They are supposed to practice putting out a forest fire, but in reality they just drink vodka.
To me it’s like a practice fire drill, in a Company. Employees are supposed to take the stairs not the elevator, yet some are lazy & take the elevator, depending on how many floors in a building a Company occupies. It’s simply practice for the real stuff. But, agreed, in this case, it is only practice — no need to sensationlize.
And no, I’m very, very, very sorry to say - we do not appear to be significant enough to appear in End-Times Bible Prophecy.

I was unfortunate enough to be born on the wrong side of the iron curtain. This is what my uncle told me.

Fellow freepers stationed in Berlin know the best, but I have heard this drill made people know Russians are not 7 feet tall (and neither are they organized).
I’ve heard horror stories about USSR too. So many of them, and USSR itself was massive in land mass - North and South.
Can also tell you that in the Bahamas, for example, the gov’t tended to hand out bottles & cases of rum to people before general elections, in the 1980s and 1990s. Not sure if it is still the case - have no reason to believe it isn’t.
In Iran, over the last 35 years, the mullahs say they imprison and execute drug dealers, yet there are so many drug addicts - one doesn’t know where to start. Alcohol is forbidden of course; BUT, Most are deliberately given & encouraged to be on drugs; mostly opium, but meth, etc.. too. Even within the regime itself, there are regular opium consumers.
In Australia, there is a clear and excessive alcohol consumption problem. To the credit of the gov’ts & over the years, they increasingly designated certain ‘family-oriented’ public places as “alcohol-free” zones - even in affluent suburbs in cities like Sydney - you can see public signs. This is something that I had never seen until last, maybe, 10 years in Australia. But gov’t had to control it, because it has been and still is a real *cultural* problem.
I can go on about Scandinavian countries & alcohol too.
If I’m not mistaken, Russia still has its highest death rate from alcohol related consumption - it seems definitely & primarily a cultural problem? Does the current federal gov’t in Russia encourage it?
