Difference between Romney and Trump is enthusiasm level. Watched only one Romney speech and it was disaster. I was not for Trump, but when I heard him in 2015 Texas speech, i was all for him.

Romney's crowds weren't anywhere close to Trump's, and neither were McCain's.
Furthermore, Romney was running against an incumbent who was drawing even bigger crowds.

I just put it on but I think it’s Sherriff Babeau (I’m used to seeing him on TV in uniform). I believe he’s running for congress now.
Romney had huge crowds.
Actually, Romney’s crowds, as well as 0bama’s in 2012, were rather small. It took Romney to mid-October to get a crowd of 14,000. Trump has broken that numerous times, even during the primaries. Romney had one rally where he drew 30,000, and that was a few days before election day.
As for Palin, she drew huge crowds, including at The Villages, of about 40,000. In Springfield MO, and Jefferson city MO, she drew about 20,000 in each place. Unfortunately, she was the undercard for a guy who struggled to get more than a few hundred. McCain’s biggest rally by himself, was 10,000 in Miami, the night before election day. Otherwise, he had to team up with Palin if he wanted to campaign in front of a big crowd.
