I don’t understand the “bombshell” aspect of this.

He did nothing illegal on his taxes so, unlike Hillary’s e-mail leaks, this is a legitimate question.

The New York Times Paid No Taxes in 2014
Breitbart / FR Posted by bryan999

The New York Times has excited the Clinton campaign and the rest of the media with a revelation that Republican nominee Donald Trump declared a $916 million loss in 1995 that might have resulted in him not paying taxes in some subsequent years.

The implication, reinforced by CNN’s Jake Tapper on State of the Union on Sunday morning, is that Trump “avoided” paying taxes, when in fact his tax liability was zero.

But the Times itself has “avoided” paying taxes — in 2014, for example.

As Forbes noted at the time: … for tax year 2014, The New York Times paid no taxes and got an income tax refund of $3.5 million even though they had a pre-tax profit of $29.9 million in 2014. In other words, their post-tax profit was higher than their pre-tax profit.

The explanation in the NYT's 2014 annual report is, “The effective tax rate for 2014 was favorably affected by approximately $21.1 million for the reversal of reserves for uncertain tax positions due to the lapse of applicable statutes of limitations.”

If you don’t think it took fancy accountants and tax lawyers to make that happen, read the statement again.

New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani defended Trump on Sunday, telling NBC News’ Meet the Press that Trump was a “genius” in business who was simply doing what the tax code allows every American to do by counting losses against tax liabilities, and bouncing back from failure to success.

That would include the New York Times — which, however, is still struggling.

Wikileaks releases thousands of documents proving Hillary sold her position at State to all comers foreign and domestic and the papers can’t be bothered. Someone releases THREE PAGES of Trump’s tax returns and they hyperventilate. I hate the communist media.

(hat tip Alberta's Child)

The New York Times Building is a skyscraper on the west side of Midtown Manhattan, New York City that was completed in 2007. Its chief tenant is The New York Times Company, publisher of The New York Times as well as the International New York Times, and other newspapers. Construction was by a joint venture of The New York Times Company, Forest City Ratner (Forest City Enterprises's New York subsidiary), and ING Real Estate.

--- snip ---

The site for the NYT building was obtained by the Empire State Development Corporation (ESDC) through eminent domain. With a mandate to acquire and redevelop blighted properties in Times Square, ten buildings were condemned by the ESDC and purchased from their owners. Some owners sued, asserting that the area was no longer blighted, but lost in court.

Once the 80,000-square-foot (7,400 m2) site was assembled, it was leased to The New York Times Company and Forest City Ratner for $85.6 million over 99 years (considerably below market value).

Additionally, The New York Times Company received an initial $26.1 million in tax breaks. (Excerpt) Read more at en.wikipedia.org ...

Who gave Trump’s taxes to the New York Times? >>>>>>>>>>>>

Two guesses:

1)Trump himself

2)Rogue IRS agent

It’s not a bombshell. Trump did nothing wrong.

Some old woman from the NYT was bragging about finding these documents in her mailbox.

And we're supposed to just take her word for it...like no one in the MSM ever lies. [/eye roll]

3) Hillary’s campaign

Let’s not forget in the debate Hillary spoke with authority that Trump had not paid any taxes. This was well b/4 the Times story.

She would not have been so blunt if she did not know this was going to be broke to the public.

Personally I think it’s all smoke anyway to get the attention off her crookedness.

Then how do they know the information is valid? Either they committed a crime by getting the info illegally or, they have liable Trump intentionally...they need to be called on it.

If the FBI was not headed by a dirty cop and a corrupt U.S. Attorneys Office they would start by prosecuting the New York Slimes. It is an open and shut case as Hitlery’s national security case is, but there is no honest prosecutors in the DOJ to squeeze the hell out of the Slimes and find out who in the eternally corrupt IRS got a fat bundle cash for the docs.

When was Trump’s last divorce? What year? I’m thinking that his tax return might have been part of a financial settlement and that some court clerk release it. If it had been the IRS, they might have released a more recent return. Then again, perhaps Trump HAS been paying federal taxes most years and THAT isn’t the message the leaker is seeking to convey.

I think Hillary Clinton has always had Trump’s tax information. Anything the IRS has on anybody is available to any high ranking Democrat, any time. That’s how the DNC operates.

Funny how the WaPo calls it a “bombshell” story instead of: The concerted attempt to illegally smear Trump that flopped....by an entity that not only paid no taxes in 2014, but actually received millions in return on top of it.

"Trump had declared a $916 million loss in 1995, wiping out any federal taxes that year and setting himself up to avoid 18 years of similar obligations"

These liberal rags are obviously ignorant (intentionally?) of the AMT. The AMT (Alternative Minimum Tax) was set up in 1970 to specifically prevent write-offs such as this from becoming a continuous way of avoiding taxes,

The AMT was specifically written to prevent a few very high income individuals from making these 18 year tax avoidances. It has since "trickled down" to hit us mortals, as well. (I know, because I got zapped with it the year I retired, due to my modest retirement savings.

This raised the possibility that the documents could be fakes, just as the unusual typescript in documents purported to be part of President George W. Bush’s military records was called into question after CBS News used them in a “60 Minutes II” story in 2004. (Those documents were never definitively shown to be bogus, but the suspicions they raised eventually led to the firings, resignations or early retirement of people involved in the CBS story, including anchor Dan Rather.)

Paging Buckhead!

I typically don’t follow links to Rat sites. Have images of the actual document been published?

If so, why wouldn’t any public figure submitting tax returns to multiple entities make a unique stray mark on each copy - and keep track of who got which copy - in case one source later revealed the return? Wouldn’t tell exactly who leaked it, but it would point to which copy was released. Would have to be discrete so the smudge wouldn’t get noticed and Photoshopped out. Just use different pen diameters or somesuch.
