In the states that matter, NAFTA has been a disaster.... PA, OH, WI, MI, IA, MN and IL.... People who used to have good jobs with benefits now drive school buses making under 20k a year trying to support their family, or are stockers at Wal Mart for the same...

You can see the devastation across this region that free trade has wrought... Sure the suits in DC and NY have gotten fatter paychecks, but don’t think for one minute that NAFTA and WTO have been beneficial to the average American, particularly if they live and work in areas that were driven by Manufacturing.

It’s the business of every American what comes into the USA via ship, plane or mule. Whether living or cargo. We need to know what it is and control it.

Where are you from? I’d rather that you not speak for the State of Michigan. Manufacturing worker, here.

Before NAFTA, in the rural region that I grew up in....within fifty miles, there were hundreds of small manufacturing operations....some were just a dozen people....some were a couple hundred. Most people graduating high school could depend on a job being there and giving them some start in life.

Today, within that same circle...the bulk of those $10 to $15 an hour jobs are gone. The jobs that do still exist...are on the bare threads and the guy is likely lucky to make $10 to $12 an hour....for what was normal pay 20 years ago but the cost of living is double what it was 20 years ago.
