The train DID have “positive” train control: a highly paid union engineer sitting behind the controls. Sad that the technology was not present to protect the riders from the engineer. Tragic even. But it was an accident sans-technology that did not need to happen.
A perusal of PATH’s budget might prove interesting. How much was spent on out-of-state trips? How much spent on art and on renovations of offices? What budget choices did the governing body make that did not prioritize PTC?
