EL CAJON, Calif. - A female El Cajon police officer has sued her department on allegations she was passed over for a promotion because she cooperated with an investigation into a former sergeant accused of sending lewd pictures to her and several other women in the agency.
The lawsuit, filed Monday in San Diego Superior Court, alleges ECPD demonstrated sexual discrimination, sexual orientation discrimination and disability discrimination against the officer, identified in the documents as Christine Greer.
In the lawsuit, Greer claims that former Sgt. Richard Gonsalves texted her a nude photo of his genitals. Last month, Team10 learned that Gonsalves reportedly sent lewd pictures and text messages to several women.
Greer claims that as a result of testifying to Internal Affairs and cooperating with the department’s investigation into Gonsalves, she was rejected for the detective position.
Gonsalves has since been demoted to officer, but has not been fired. Greer also remains an officer with ECPD. The lawsuit names both the department and Gonsalves as defendants.

Did this cop think he was NYC Congressman? I think El Cajon police should have been able to determine if he did indeed send the text of his genitals or not. If he did, he should have been fired, not just demoted.
If he did not send the text, and if the female office fabricated the claim, then she should have been fired.
