The Swarthmore Daily Gazette has utterly failed its student body and it would like to issue a sincere and full apology.
You see, on Monday, the Daily Gazette, the voice of Swarthmore College, printed an opinion column with a conservative viewpoint, overestimating the capacity of Swarthmore students to accept an opinion that might depart, in substance, from the standard liberal pedagogy.
Today, they acknowledge that the column did not meet with its rigorous editorial standards We Fucked Up, as the apology is headlined and such an incident will never happen again.
The opinion column in question, which still appears on the Daily Gazette, is titled The Admissions Office Doesnt Care About Your Values. It begins with an in-depth investigation into how the Swarthmore admissions office bypasses traditional routes in investigating a students need for financial aid. It ultimately defends the admissions offices practice of allowing wealthy students to attend the private university a complaint Swarthmore social justice warriors frequently voice against the administration.
Eventually, the column gets around to making its point: that wealthy students subsidize the social justice warriors, allowing them to spend their days promoting their hyper-liberal agendas, while paying little in actual tuition to the college of their choice.
Demonizing wealthy students is not productive because, in the end, they are paying not just for their own education but also for the education of their hyper-liberal classmates who resent the upper class at its core, the author says. He then suggests that aided students warmly say thank you so, so much for being forced to pay for my opportunity instead of check your privilege.'
Cue Swarthmores outrage.
According to the Daily Gazette editors, the suggestion in an opinion piece that Swarthmores liberals are funded by their wealthy classmates has no factual basis, (implying, of course, that Swarthmores social justice warriors are also wealthy, of course), and that the suggestion to stop whining was just plain offensive.
People are allowed to have opinions, the Daily Gazette editors cried, but those opinions cannot be conservative opinions they declared a self-satisfied profession of insidious classism.
Swarthmore students looking for outrage can still read the column, which will remain up for educational reasons. Dont worry, though: theres a trigger warning.

Do I think mixing finances and admissions is fundamentally wrong? Absolutely not. Colleges are, at a basic level, private institutions that need to worry about their long term sustainability. Demonizing wealthy students is not productive because, in the end, they are paying not just for their own education but also for the education of their hyper-liberal classmates who resent the upper class at its core. Is this fair? No. But life isnt fair. Thats reality. Stop whining and get over it. Check your privilege should be replaced with a warm thank you so, so much for being forced to pay for my opportunity.
And this is the paper's apology for printing that column:
Is this humor?
Unfortunately, no. It’s not humor. The female author of the ‘offending letter’ was threatened with bodily harm and left campus, if not the school entirely. Notice how low the language standards have sunk “We F*cked Up”. This, from a University with a long history. Doesn’t leave much to aspire to, if their upperclassmen can publish a campus wide paper like this, and on the false premise that anything other than a liberal point of view is not worthy of being heard at all.
This country has so much work to do.
And then when the SJWs graduate after 7 years with a worthless degree, taxpayers will continue to support them on welfare or in trendy make-work jobs. Oh, did I forget the trigger warning?!
The comments after the article are quite good. Obviously most of the students have had it up to here with the hypocrisy of those who run the paper and all the PC crap in general.
“Notice how low the language standards have sunk We F*cked Up.
Well, perhaps they’re scholars of pre-Norman Conquest Britain!/s;)
When the revolution comes, these moonbat “colleges” need to be razed to the ground.
Meanwhile, it costs a fortune to attend a moonbat craphole like Swarthmore.
I experienced a lesser degree of intimidation in college years ago. But the violence seething within these young people frightens me in a way I never was at my NYC campus. The parallel to Hitler’s Youth army is no longer a stretch. I believe that is why absolutely no one has a bumper sticker or Trump sign on display in my neighborhood.
It wasnt Britain back then - England and Scotland werent united (are they now?) until much later than 1066.But then, its moot - our language today would have been unintelligible to a contemporary of Geoffrey Chaucer (1343 1400). Let alone of King Harold . . .
