We are witnessing a great clash of civilizations here. It is not as dramatic as previous ones - no Mongol horsemen are sweeping across the steppes, yet. But this latest clash has the potential to be every bit as destructive to the West as the previous ones were.

Note that in this latest vile shooting the victim was targeted simply because he posted a cartoon. He didn't even produce it. He was a Christian, and that surely played a part.

There certainly are many good and decent Muslims. Maybe most are good and decent. Maybe most Muslims really are horrified at acts such as this one. It it up to them to reform Islam. But how could they do that? I am at a loss here.
