Covering 90 square miles, School District U-46 serves families in 11 communities within Cook, DuPage and Kane Counties of Chicago’s Northwest suburbs. The district is approximately 45 minutes west of downtown Chicago, and the majority of our communities are easily accessible from major interstates and commuter rail lines.
School District U-46 serves more than 40,000 pre-schoolers through twelfth graders. The district ranks as the second largest in Illinois with 53 schools; 40 elementary, 8 middle, and 5 high schools.
The District headquarters is called the “U-46 Educational Services Center,” and is located at 355 E. Chicago Street, Elgin, IL 60120. The phone number is 847-888-5000. The Educational Services Center is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday except for June and July when hours are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
