I think you can rule out the Canadian border as a destination, it’s only one hour north of Burlington and he would have showed up there long before now if that was his idea of escape, and a very poor idea it would be since the last two miles (in either direction) are highly surveilled and I would assume there were probably roadblocks somewhere along the route; also Canadian border security would be on high alert and extra police available if he tried breaking through an inspection post (those people are armed too).

I would not entirely rule out that he came in from Canada, that m.o. has been attempted once or twice with poor results for the terrorists (most notably, in 2000 when U.S. border guards intercepted a plot at Port Angeles involving a ferry crossing from Victoria, B.C., aimed at U.S. airports; there have been few other high profile attempts and stories about 9-11 hijackers coming in from Canada are erroneous).

I have Seattle TV on but (channel hopping) they are not covering this story live, waiting for a news alert (nothing on screen). I was unaware of this story before the regular late news ended (at 11:30).

This is very likely unrelated but a guy was stopped in Vancouver about 24 hours ago with a van full of weapons, he was arrested and his van towed away, suggestions on the news of local drug gang connections rather than terrorism as such.
