Everyone being vetted for the Supreme Court needs to be asked to tell us what they think natural born citizen means.

The founders meant born here of citizen parents.
Solely a US citizen and nothing else.
No possibility of foreign influence on the Presidency.
No foreign birth
No foreign parent(s)
No foreign citizenship(s)

Ted Cruz believes it means even if you are born in a foreign country with a foreign national father and are only an American on one’s mother’s side, you qualify.
Rubio believes being born here is enough, his parents were Cuban citizens.
Jindal does too, his parents were Indian citizens.

I don’t want him on the court, he thinks one can be a natural born citizen born in a foreign country to a foreign national father and only an American on one’s mother’s side.

President Trump will NEVER nominate Cruz for SC.

DJT correctly identified Cruz as “LYIN’ TED”.

He will nominate ONLY HONORABLE men of the highest character for the SC.

I’d wager not a single judge on Trump’s list sees the issue the way you do. That’s a historical argument, not recent or current legal theory.

We just don’t realize how noxious ALL current legal education is, especially concerning the Constitution.

Current legal theory is aimed at subverting the Constitution.

I guess Hillary’s poll numbers aren’t so good after all.

We can tell from the language of the Supreme Court in Minor vs Happersett that it was still widely understood in 1872:

“it was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives, or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners.”

While I certainly agree with you, sadly the framers of the Constitution felt it unnecessary to spell out what NBC does mean, and as a result it is now left up to who knows who to define it.

Is it the responsibility of the courts? Is it the responsibility of the legislature? Should it be put to a vote by the citizens? All three of those choices are less than desirable. In fact there is considerable debate as to people born in this country qualifying as citizens, let alone those that contend they are NBC.

That is where the problems arise, and why there is even the ability to debate the issue. The founders made the requirement but did not spell out or even document what qualifies as a NBC.

So the vetting process would not work unless and until it is defined, accepted, and adopted as to what NBC means.

Apparently Glenn was saying on his radio show this morning, that Trump is sure to win. And now we’re hearing Cruz is bellying up to the bar. Well, well, well.
