Bill Kristol Is Worried -- That Mrs. Clinton Might Blow This Election!

RUSH: So grab sound bites 18 and 19. I was at home last night, and I thought I was watching outtakes from a Beyonce video before I realized it was Charlotte, and I get an email from a friend of mine ranking in Republican Party politics of some years ago, not at the present. He said, "You won't believe this. You have got to watch Bill Kristol on Fox. It is hilarious." Well, I didn't have Fox on, and it had already happened. So I wrote back. I said, "Well, what happened? I didn't see it." "Well, go find it and stream it."

I said, "Well, this is not helpful. Just tell me what happened."

So I never found out last night what happened, and I got in here and, lo and behold, Cookie had it on the sound bite roster. It is pretty good. Bill Kristol was on with Brit Hume last night. This is seven p.m. Eastern hour on the Fox News Channel, and Kristol is really worried. Now, remember, the note I got last night from a former ranking...

Not a party official. It's a former ranking official for a particular former ranking Republican bigwig.

And the note was, "You gotta see! You gotta see what Kristol did!" Of course, with no more than that. So I don't know. I have nothing to go on. Well, it turns out that Kristol is panicked because he's thinking Hillary might lose. A leading Republican, conservative pundit... Well, here. Let's just listen to it. I don't need to characterize it before you've heard it. Brit Hume says to Bill Kristol, "You have been warming some of your conservative colleagues that Trump's chances look better than people thought. What tipped you off? What gave you your view?"

KRISTOL: She's had a very rough couple of weeks. He made himself look more presidential and more acceptable. When you're in a change environment, people will excuse a lot of flaws of the change candidates. When a change environment the candidate of change has a big advantage. The wind is naturally at his back, and Hillary Clinton is the status quo candidate. They're really mystified by her campaign. If you ask people -- and I'm really not saying this in a polemical way, just analytically -- "What changes will Hillary Clinton bring about?" what is the answer?

RUSH: He's worried. This is a conservative magazine publisher worried that Hillary's blowing it, and he says he's mystified by her campaign. Bill, it's not hard to understand what's going on. By the way, none of this means Trump's gonna end up winning. Who knows? I'm not counting any chickens having hatched here yet. But I'm not in the crowd that is worried if Hillary is performing poorly. I applaud that. I get excited when I think that Hillary is in the process of blowing it and is fading.

But these people on our side are getting concerned that she's gonna blow it, and now they're saying they don't understand her campaign. They're really mystified. It's not hard to understand, Bill. Now, I don't mean to sound condescending at all. I'm just... You have to step out of the political realm that we've all been in all of our lives, because Trump's not in it. So a standard, ordinary, Washington establishment campaign with the requisite consultants and the proper fundraising and the allocation and the focus groups and the polling, it's not applicable.

Trump foe Bill Kristol: He could win in November

And the Democrats, and apparently some of the Republicans, have no idea how to adapt. Here's the next bite. Brit Hume said, "That's a good question. It's also a good question what her slogan 'Stronger Together' actually means. I mean, Trump's slogan is 'Make America Great Again.' You might not think he can do it. You might think it's sophomoric or whatever, but it's clear." What is "sophomoric" about "Make America Great Again"? What...? I remember Nancy Reagan's drug policy, "Just Say No," and they mocked that, and yet that is a solution.

Why make fun of that? Why mock it? "Just Say No." "Make America Great Again." What is "sophomoric" about that? Oh, yeah, that's so trite! That's course. That's meant to really appeal to the hoi polloi, but we know that kind of fantasy. 'Make America Great Again'? What does that mean?" And then to add, he probably can't do it anyway, but at least he's got a slogan and Hillary doesn't. Hillary's slogan is, "Stronger together." Hillary's slogan is "Do It For Her." That's Hillary's slogan. So Hume's question, "What is your take on Trump's slogan versus Hillary's slogan?"

KRISTOL: Hillary Clinton's entire message is, "Donald Trump is horrible. He's terrible." I'm not pro-Trump, so I'm not unsympathetic to parts of that message. But you can't simply, I don't think, run for president by trying to disqualify your opponent. What she said is, in effect, "Donald Trump can't become president. It's just too horrible. Friends don't let friends vote for Donald Trump." She needs to have some positive message.

RUSH: I'm sure she'd take your call, because she needs all the help she can get from people that want her to do well and from people worried she's not doing this right. So any of you out there who know how to beat Trump, I don't have the number to Hillary's campaign, but I'm sure somebody could get it for you.

Was Kristol the one that wanted Trump to lose so badly that he would be humiliated and never run again? I remember some GOP elite saying something like that.

I saw this last night on FNC. Disgusting.

FNC has been Bill Kristol-free for several years now. WHY did Brit Hume have to drag this liberal bozo back onto FNC again?? Ugh!

Nails it! I like that brooding atmosphere of doom over the heedless revelers.

Reminds me of another quote on the cluelessness of arrogance and taking things for granted:

You never turned around to see the frowns
On the jugglers and the clowns
When they all did tricks for you.

William Kristol: son of Irving, the unrepentant Trotskyite and promulgator of the perversion of genuine conservatism, Neoconservatism.

#NeverKristol.

I agree, but it is Kristol, not Krystal (a name I like, and do not want associated with this appalling, pathetic traitor).

My apologies to the Krystals of the world, that I confused a traitor like Kristol with them.

(How's that?)

i don’t know, Obama ran on nothing but vague “hopey-changey” and demonizing Bush, even though he wasn’t even running against Bush...
i think libtard regressives WANT to hear their candidate bash the opposition - because they’re hate filled.

Kristol worked for Quayle, who endorsed Trump in May.

There is an old saying, mis-attributed to philosopher Eric Hoffer (he never actually said it, but his writings indicate he would have agreed with it wholeheartedly):

“Every great cause begins as a movement, becomes a business, and ends as a racket.”

Back then they were still in the movement era; they have since gone through the how-many-ways-can-I-draw-a-paycheck-from-this “business” phase, and are now in the terminal, don’t-break-my-rice-bowl “defend the racket” phase.
