“Not much cotton grown in the USA anymore.”

Apparently you haven’t been to South Carolina lately. There are huge fields of cotton all around me here. It is true that cotton production in this state came to a halt for a long time but it has returned in a big way in recent years. Fields that were filled with tobacco forty years ago are now turning white as snow. Unfortunately this state is NOT following up by producing finished clothing and other items from it, we are producing raw material for others to convert into finished products to sell back to us.

California grows a lot of cotton too, but not as much due to the drought.
