If youve ever seen The Big Lebowski, youll recognise this photograph of President Richard Nixon bowling, which infamously loomed over the Dudes tiki bar in the cult Coen brothers film. It is in fact a real photograph of Nixon and as I recently discovered, in 1969 the former President added his own secret one-lane bowling alley in the basement of the the White House just a few years before the Watergate scandal broke and its still there today.

Foul, that’s a 0 for that ball. Does not however look like a foul light is installed on those lanes?

Set pins for 10¢ a game when I was 12 & 13.
All by hand - no pin setting machines.
Most weeks made about $8 - a big week was $20.
Sometimes had to set pins in 4 alleys jumping back and forth.

Was that a pic of Obama bowling? If so, he had the bumpers out!
It would explain his claimed improvement in his bowling score after that laughable 37.

When I get elected president, I'm gonna refurbish and expand those lanes.
I'm thinking 36. Moonlight madness. Open to the public.
Renovation's gonna include a roller rink right next door.
Yeah, Roll and Bowl at the White Hut !

Thanks. I forgot that Obama was a lefty. The guy at the site was a righty and had more meat on his bones than the thin one.
