Former journalist Sidney Blumenthal has been widely credited with coining the term “vast right-wing conspiracy” used by Hillary Clinton in 1998 to describe the alliance of conservative media, think tanks, and political operatives that sought to destroy the Clinton White House where he worked as a high-level aide. A decade later, and now acting as a senior campaign advisor to Senator Clinton, Blumenthal is exploiting that same right-wing network to attack and discredit Barack Obama. And he’s not hesitating to use the same sort of guilt-by-association tactics that have been the hallmark of the political right dating back to the McCarthy era.

Instead, it is Sidney Blumenthal who, on a regular basis, methodically dispatches these email mudballs to an influential list of opinion shapers — including journalists, former Clinton administration officials, academics, policy entrepreneurs, and think tankers — in what is an obvious attempt to create an echo chamber that reverberates among talk shows, columnists, and Democratic Party funders and activists. One of the recipients of the Blumenthal email blast, himself a Clinton supporter, forwards the material to me and perhaps to others.
These attacks sent out by Blumenthal, long known for his fierce and combative loyalty to the Clintons, draw on a wide variety of sources to spread his Obama-bashing. Some of the pieces are culled from the mainstream media and include some reasoned swipes at Obama’s policy and political positions.
But, rather remarkably for such a self-professed liberal operative like Blumenthal, a staggering number of the anti-Obama attacks he circulates derive from highly-ideological and militant right-wing sources such as the misnamed Accuracy in Media (AIM), The Weekly Standard, City Journal, The American Conservative, and The National Review.

Below is the full transcript excerpt that Democrats intended not to publish. It is unclear who the questioner is in the first section.
Q: Did you ever receive any payment from an organization called Media Matters?
A: Oh, yes. I did — I did receive payment in that period from Media Matters.
Q: Okay. And what was your relationship with Media Matters at that time period?
A: I was a consultant to Media Matters. I’m sorry I—

A: I overlooked that.
Q: When did you become a consultant for Media Matters?
A: I would say the very end of 2012.

Q: Okay. And what is your salary or your contract with Media Matters? How much money are you earning from them?
A: I’d say it’s about $200,000 a year.

Blumenthal and Republican Select Committee Member Mike Pompeo had the following exchange about Correct the Record:
Q: Fair enough. I’m going to jump around a little bit. You said I think earlier this morning that you still are working for Correct the Record?
A: I am.
Q: And tell me what the mission of Correct the Record is.
A: Correct the Record is pretty much what it says, to correct — it’s a nonprofit organization to correct the record about public misstatements about prominent Democrats.

In some cases Sid Blumenthal actually provided a draft piece that I would slightly modify and publish under my name. Most of the time, however, Sid provided background information and researched material that I would use to craft pieces. How many? I am providing the links to 63 blog articles that I posted (and in one case was posted by Susan Hudgens, who assisted with the blog) between January 2008 and June 30, 2008.
Here is simple summary of material (in writing or through a verbal briefing) that I received from Sid?
Information surrounding the corrupt business relationship between Barack Obama and Tony Rezko.
Information about Barack Obama’s ties to Palestinian radicals.
Information concerning Barack Obama’s longstanding ties to the American terrorist, Bill Ayers.
Information concerning Barack Obama’s close ties to radical clerics–i.e., Jeremiah Wright and Father Michael Pfleger.
Information concerning allegations that Barack Obama was not a natural born citizen.
Information concerning Barack Obama being adopted by Indonesian Muslim Lolo Soetoro.
The big Kahuna of the anti-Obama dump was the allegation that Republicans had a tape of Michelle Obama in which she used the disparaging term “Whitey.” I published that after being told about the “tape” by Sid Blumenthal. (I learned a few weeks later that the story of the tape actually originated with Media Matter’s David Brock and he confirmed its existence to me in person).
I remember when bho said NO to hillary when she wanted Sid on her “staff” at State.
Thanks this just gets better and better.

One more thing: Blumenthal joined the 2008 Hillary Clinton presidential campaign as a “senior advisor” in November 2007.

Do you really think McClatchy is the only media organization Sid the Shiv pushed this on? No, of course not — he almost certainly pushed this chum to any fish in his Rolodex. And yet the entire media has suppressed that fact until ONE SINGLE REPORTER blew the whistle. How many other reporters and editors knew, and were eagerly prepared to keep lying to their readership about the authorship of the Birther Conspiracy?
Think about that. The media has suppressed this information all these years so they could use the toxic {{{birther}}} issue against Republicans. But the the MSM knew all along that it came from the Clinton camp.
