Suggest a visit to Japan Guide sometime. You might find some chums from that era. Click on forum, then type in “PX.”
There was a ship named General M.M. Patrick, nicknamed the Mickey Mouse. I believe this ship somehow split in half at anchor in California or Washington State but was raised, welded back together and continued in service.
I went to 1st or 2nd grade in Sagami, then 3rd and 4th at Nasugbu (in the Yo-Hi building.) Then two years at YIS, then back to 6th at Nile C. Kinnick (Yo-Hi renamed by the Navy.)

I recently bought the Ed Hume comics “Babysan’s World”, which I read in the Far East PX but never bought. His depictions of young Japanese women in the postwar occupation would have feminists screaming.
