Is that the ghost of Bella Abzug in the middle?
Not a ghost. Rather, necromancy. She still has to vote, you know.
What an awesome '70s NYC reference!
‘Is that the ghost of Bella Abzug in the middle?’
yes it is, and she’s going to vote in NYC and NC!
#5. No, that is not the ghost of Bella Abzug in the middle. Her hats were so wide that protestors used to ride on them instead of walking.
She wore polka-dotted dresses and hats. Looked like a Sperm Whale in drag.
But remember that she was a hardcore communist and probable KGB asset through her membership in both Soviet youth (World Federation of Democratic Youth) and legal fronts, the International Association of Democratic Lawyers.
Her hats hid an evil mind that was pure red all her life, since her college days (believe it was Hunter or CUNY), or even before.
Her husband Martin Abzug was also reported to be a covert member of the Communist Party USA (records on his and her identifications as Party member cannot be found in public government files at the National Archives, though an internal security analyst who saw them said that they were supposed to be there).
Her record of supporting the CPUSA (Current Affairs magazine donation) and its fronts is probably the longest one for a female member of congress, and ranks among the top 5-10 for all congressmen or women (Beaten by Conyers, Dellums, perhaps Hugh DeLacey, the Burton brothers, George Crockett, Vito Marcantonio, KGB agent Dickstein (1930’s), John Coffee, Sen. Lundgren, and one or two others).
I don’t think that her hats are enough to shield her from the fires of Hell, but they might make the devil laugh.
And here I thought I was the only person on earth who remembered old Bella.
My answer to every Jeopardy question (category doesn’t matter) that I don’t know the answer to; “BELLA ABZUG”.
Bout gave me a heart attack once; had no clue what the answer to a “women in politics” question was on the program several years ago, so I just shouted out BELLA ABZUG, damned if it wasn’t the correct answer.
My just wife looked at me and shook her head.
Ahhh Bella Abzug. I ran into her in the hallway of a low rent pre war office building in lower Manhattan in 1986 where she was hanging her shingle at the time.. never forget a face. Wish I could sometimes ...
The Abzug reference dates you kind Sir.

When I worked the Lobster shift at the Evening Star Newspaper, we printers would head to the nearest watering hole on Pennsylvania Avenue. It was also the favorite watering hole of Bella Baby, and we got a kick out of seeing her stagger in with that big hat flopping around on her noggin. She was a real loudmouth in those days. Is she still around or deceased?
