If you remember your history when the printing press was invented the Catholic Church all but called it an instrument of the devil and wanted it destroyed and forbade its use. The Church was afraid that it would not be in charge of the information the “little people” would have access to. Their argument went along the lines of eating from the tree of knowledge that caused Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden.
So to placate the Church Guttenberg printed the Bible as his first offering.
