I’m afraid that what we’re seeing is a major realignment of the parties in America.
The Democrat Party has moved more toward a European Socialist Party, and the Republican Party has moved toward the Blue Dog Democrat or east coast Republican Party.
Kind of a little earthquake moving everything a little to the left.
The Republican Party now stands for huge federal stimulus programs, not touching entitlements and expanded federal roles in such things as daycare.
These next few years will be difficult for small government conservatives. There just may not be a role for them in the American political spectrum anymore.
Maybe after the crash.
Where have you been? The idea of small government (that I love, love, love) has been dead for generations.
It’s going to take generations to get back to that if ever. We must keep our eyes on obtainable goals. Small government happening tomorrow, or next week, or next year, or the next 5 decades isn’t one of them.
For an example (I’m just making up numbers): Trump reduces existing government by 15% but adds something that increases government by 5%. Did we small government people win? I say yes.
