I’m not in a medical specialist, but if a member of my family was diagnosed as having pneumonia by a neighborhood doc, I’d want more than just an antibiotic Rx thrown at me and a prescription to rest. That’s why I really don’t believe the “pneumonia bug” shtick.

As an EMT for ten years, I can tell you I have diagnosed pneumonia with a stethoscope. My doc has diagnosed me with pneumonia using a stethoscope. I have had an x-ray for pneumonia, but not every time. Had pneumonia just this spring, got better and no x-ray.
