As the Wall Street Journal reported earlier this week in a very important article:
BERLINGrowing populist forces shook Europes pillar of stability this weekend, as an unprecedented defeat for Chancellor Angela Merkels conservatives in Germany signaled more political tumult across the continent.
For the first time in postwar history, Ms. Merkels Christian Democrats finished behind a populist challenger to their political right in a state election. Riding a wave of discontent with her migration policy, the Alternative for Germanya three-year-old anti-immigrant partybeat the chancellors party in her home state, spurring her allies to debate Monday whether she should change course.
Beyond Germany, more political crossroads are approaching that could jolt Europeas the migrant influx, terrorism fears, and antiestablishment sentiment complicate the recovery from years of economic problems.
A week from Sunday, an election in the city-state of Berlin is likely to deliver Ms. Merkel another setback, according to opinion polls. Two weeks after that, polls show voters in Austrias second-round presidential election could crown postwar Western Europes first right-wing, populist head of state.
Later in the fall, Italy faces a constitutional referendum seen as an up-or-down vote on Premier Matteo Renzis pro-European government. And in December, Spain could face its third parliamentary elections in a year if its troubles in forming a government persista symptom of the same political fragmentation and antiestablishment sentiment dogging much of Europe.

Gee, people the world over want to keep their countries.......
The globalists have tried to convince us otherwise....
Merkel is getting what she deserves. It shows how LITTLE she knows her how people.
It shows how LITTLE she knows her how people
Her people stripped East Germany bare before they hightailed it back to Russia
The common theme of all current elections everywhere is against state sponsored, or indifference to, unchecked immigration. Everywhere, that is except the Middle East sans Israel. Wake up RINOs and smell the coffee.
Good, but will they actually elect a government that keeps the invaders out and uses German money to benefit Germans?
It’s not just the Germans. It’s Europe wide.
I know the answer, HRC, nothing....unless they give you a million dollars to the Clinton Crime Family Foundation.
I watched Apocalypse Hitler last night cant wait for Apocalypse Merkel
I watched that and I agree with you.
Yes, but is Europe better off even if they did do a wholesale expulsion of the adherents of sharia? Pause to think before answering. Sometimes the really bad guy isn’t who you think.
Merkel is trying to change the demographics of Europe. The last time a German chancellor attempted the same thing, how did that work out?
I think it is the status quo on trial here (and there). The political elite.
The UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, etc, have extremely strict immigration controls. They are not even close to allowing what has been allowed to happen in Europe.
No, in the last vote Hoffer lost and his side challenged the result - successfully. Unless you meant by "populist result" the green eco-nazi "win".
