THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK

IRVING BERLIN

GEORGE OLSEN: ”SAY IT ISN’T SO“

This 1932 tune has a taste of the blues. This recording highlights the changes in musical taste as the Twenties receded into the distance. The tubas are gone, replaced by string basses. The frenetic pace of the typical Twenties dance band has been replaced by a stately 2/2 fox trot. Music is changing before our ears, and it’s growing up.
