Russia and the US have agreed to a "cessation of hostilities" in Syria from sunset on 12 September after intensive talks in Geneva.
Under the plan, the Syrian government will end combat missions in specified areas held by the opposition.
Russia and the US will establish a joint centre to combat so-called Islamic State and al-Nusra fighters.
The plan follows a day of talks between US Secretary of State John Kerry and his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov.

Knowing this administration, Russia got the best of this deal.
So this means what? ISIS gets to just run amuck? Nice move, Bambi.
Assad in power over a rump state; Russian access to the Med through their Syrian port; limitation of US supplies to the Syrian rebels (a/k/a ISIS). Humiliating to Kerry/Obama, but the right outcome. Kerry has negotiated a Dem fig-leaf.
My prediction, only. We’ll see what they’ve agreed to and whether it stays agreed to.

Alliances on the ground, among the various groups, apparently shift daily. A group that fought beside you yesterday is ambushing you today. So, a joint combat center will determine , presumably minute by minute, who is fighting whom and get the word out to other groups, planes in the air and artillery support?
It various groups remind me of the Judea People’s Front, by Monty Python.
Al Nusra (AKA al Queda in Syria) recently changed its name, so the ISIS guys can just fall in with them, whenever Erdogan tells them to.
