In news terms, it has been a quieter summer than usual, and not remotely reminiscent of invincible summers that presaged a global descent into terrible times, such as 1929 or 1939. There has not even been the sort of flash crisis that brought us all in from the verandas or off the water early to follow president Dwight D. Eisenhowers brilliant invasion of Lebanon in 1958 or the Soviet Blocs brutal suppression of the Czech pursuit of the chimera of Communism with a human face in 1968.
This summer, we really only had the clangorous American presidential campaign to divert us from our comparative leisure. In some ways, it has been the most astonishing of these quadrennial electoral Super Bowls of living memory: an unprecedented mountain of legal and ethical baggage obstructing one candidate, and the other a total outsider to political office, violently opposed to and by the entire political class, including the media, and with a propensity to utterances vastly more self-injurious than some famous gaffes of the past that sank candidacies. An early such incident was when a spokesman for Republican candidate James G. Blaine dismissed the Democrats as the party of rum, Romanism, and rebellion in 1884, enabling Democrat Grover Cleveland to carry New York state and the election by 1,149 votes. (In 1891 as secretary of state, Blaine intervened in the Canadian election and urged Canada to seek annexation, through the pages of the Toronto Star obviously that didnt fly either). Many readers will remember president Gerald Fords denial that Poland was a Soviet-dominated country in 1976, and president Jimmy Carters reference to a national malaise in 1979 (of which the chief symptom was shortly judged to be his presence in the White House)....

Conrad Black is supposed to be some kind of genius. Here he demonstrates his tightrope walking abilities.
This statement seems so, so true. Even if Republicans sweep the 2018 off-year elections and win the Presidency in 2020, a victory for Hillary Clinton this year would have dire consequences.
“For eight straight terms, from 1981 to 2013, either a Bush or a Clinton was president, vice-president or secretary of State, and both families put up candidates for their parties presidential nominations this year. There has never been anything remotely like such a co-regency in U.S. history,=—————————”
How in the hell did we let this happen???
Thirty-two years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Time for a BIG change.
.
.
Has this been a really quiet summer? Syria? Ukraine? China Sea? Norks? European migrant crisis? Brexit? Increased number of terrorist attacks throughout the world?
We know this is America's last chance.
It ain't hard to figure out.
Some kind of genius.
The genius of the common man (which is nothing to be sneezed at--it is this genius that made America great--and it is this kind of genius that will Make America Great Again).
Did he really just say that out loud?
There’s probably not much talk about it at his country club.
A nice summation of his argument. Well said.
I have to agree.
The guy isn't paying attention.
Seriously, he’s as big a fool as all the kool-aid drinking leftists if he honestly believes that.
Our nation’s dire straight was caused by serious people. People who think themselves serious and important are a plague upon us. He must have forgotten Clinton sold missile guidance tech to the Chi-Coms for campaign contributions the agents of which were the Red Chinese Army. Serious people indeed.
Apparently..
“The guy isn’t paying attention.”
Normalcy bias.
No serious person would believe Clinton deliberately endangered national security with her emails, or that she was directly suborned, through the Clinton Foundation or otherwise.
All serious people would agree that the Clintons did not spend $150,000 of their own money to create a private server for the PURPOSE of making her national security emails vulnerable to hacking; in fact, there is a video of Hillary admitting that the server was created to prevent Republicans from “pawing through her emails”.
HOWEVER: I believe that any serious person would have to admit that Clinton was willfully blind to the possibility of her server being hacked, and thus the possibility of national security being endangered; willfully blind because of her security briefings and the memo sent out under her name warning against the use of private emails; willfully blind because to admit the possibility would have led to a decision to shut down the server, which conflicted with her purpose of using the server. Willfull blindness is a worse character flaw than simple carelessness.
And as for “No serious person would believe Clinton was ... directly suborned, through the Clinton Foundation or otherwise” ... I submit that there is credible evidence for the opposite -— an $18,000,000 payment from a University to Bill Clinton followed by a meeting with the State Department; and a multi million dollar donation to the Clinton Foundation followed by the head of the Clinton Foundation calling a Clinton aide for a State Department favor ... unless the serious person was willfully blind.
She didn’t want to “endanger” America....she wanted MONEY for her SECRETS!!! Obama wants to DESTROY AMerica....money or not!
The rub is, intent has nothing to do with breaking the Law.
Though she is an alinskyite wanting the destruction of America her lust for money and power may be greater.
