Russia's justice ministry has branded Russia's only major private pollster a "foreign agent," a stigma that could lead to its closure.
The ministry issued a statement Monday evening saying that the Levada polling agency has been listed as a "foreign agency" after a snap inspection found some irregularities.
Following major protests against his rule in 2011 and 2012, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that requires all NGOs receiving foreign funding and found to engage in vaguely defined "political activity" to register as "foreign agents." Those who fail to comply face fines and potential closure. Many organizations have said the stigma of "foreign agent," which rings like "spy" in Russian, would make it impossible for them to work in the country.

It’s an NGO that received money from Soros’ Open Society Institute.
Definitely not surprised to hear that a Soros organization got caught. The term “foreign agent” definitely applies to Levada.
The degree to which the United States has weaponized Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) is astounding. My first taste of this new “total war” strategy came in a theatre-level exercise back in the 1990s where the Joint Operations Center contained as many US government civilians and NGO representatives as it did military personnel. Many NGOs are loaded with US government operatives and are used to destabilize populations and undermine governments. Wars are started long before any shooting begins, and we are at war everywhere. I am surprised that it has taken so long for the rest of the world to figure it out.
