Poll: "Nine weeks out, a near even race"
Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton start the race to November 8 on essentially even ground, with Trump edging Clinton by a scant two points among likely voters, and the contest sparking sharp divisions along demographic lines in a new CNN/ORC Poll.
Trump tops Clinton 45% to 43% in the new survey, with Libertarian Gary Johnson standing at 7% among likely voters in this poll and the Green Party's Jill Stein at just 2%.

“Most recently, Clinton’s convention propelled her to an 8-point lead among registered voters in an early-August CNN/ORC Poll. Clinton’s lead has largely evaporated”
Really nothing to get excited about. When CNN reports him with a 10+ point lead, then we can break out the champagne!
CNN has been full tilt trying to destroy for a year Trump and it FAILED. Now they have to eat crow at least for now and publish this new poll. I stood in a room of flaming liberals a couple weeks ago. I can assure you that their only question regarding Nov 8 was how much Trump will lose by. Not so fast!
FNC’s John Roberts reported this morning that this poll will really make her cough!!!! His Fox and Friends colleagues, especially Ainsley Earhardt said Reince Priebus was right about Trump being ahead after Labor Day.
So far, this is the best polling news of the day because the L.A. Times has Trump up ONLY 3 tenths of a point this morning.
You can just sense the regret that CNN is showing in reporting these results. This is a crushing poll for Illary at this stage of the race.
Ipsos/Reuters poll:
** Iowa Trump 44% Clinton 41%
** Maine Trump 42% Clinton 42%
** Michigan Trump 42% Clinton 41%
** New Hampshire Trump 45% Clinton 44%
** Ohio Trump 46% Clinton 43%
** Wisconsin Trump 38% Clinton 38%
Trump is ahead in all major polls after Labor Day... and he hasn’t even crested!
It must have pained the Clinton News Network to report it.
Essentially, the race is now Trump’s to lose.
I expect him to become our next President.
WOO-HOO!
The candidate in the lead on Labor Day usually goes on to win the election!
GO, TRUMP, GO!
...with Libertarian Gary Johnson standing at 7% among likely voters in this poll and the Green Party’s Jill Stein at just 2%.
“Johnson shrinking”.
Hillary was ahead among registered voters? The lazy man’s polling.
Trump was always with up likely voters. She never had any meaningful kind of lead in the real world.
He was in the pool.
Uh, Johnson -yup, now there’s an image you don’t see often on FR because of the connotations of the term.
Shrinking? LOL
Yes, yes. It’s the dreaded but predictable Johnson shrinkage.
It was barely two weeks ago, all the smart people were speculating how big Trump would lose and Hillary’s first 100 days as President.
Hold the presses!
He won’t get more than 2% and Jill Stein is having a negligible impact on the election. All of this talk about a huge 3rd party vote was always BS.
And Johnson is going to keep shrinking because no one really knows him.
We Johnsons tend to shrink when the weather cools off...
Trump up 20% among Independents; has 90% of Republicans. His voters more excited than hers.
