“A neighbor told officers that a disheveled-looking man knocked on their door, and provided a description to police.”
How nice it was of the disheveled-looking man to provide a description to police.
Or maybe that should say “the neighbor provided a description of the man to police.”
Is grammar out of style today?

I found myself wondering why he wasn’t arrested while he was providing the police with his description. :=)
