That's why the troops were told repeatedly to stand down, and why when a couple brave souls defied orders and went to rescue him the moslems assumed they'd been betrayed.
After all betrayal is what they would have done!
This enraged them and they took it out on Amb Stevens.

After looking at all the ransom situations BHO has had with Islamic jihadists since Benghazi, it's clear now that Stevens was going to be kidnapped and traded for the Blind Sheik, like null and void said in #50 above. When our brave warriors messed up the plan, Hillary/BHO/ValJar gave the stand-down order, knowing good and dang well they could be issuing a death sentence for 30+ people.
BTW, a few months before Benghazi, a group of Muslim Bro. Islamists visited the White House and visited with BHO. At the time, some people here were speculating that they wanted the Blind Sheik and that BHO was going to give him up, just as soon as he figured out how to do it. I'm thinking their WH visit was early summer of 2012, but you'd have to look it up. It was a big red flag for many of us, I remember that.
