Many have noted on this thread that the Chinese are itching for a fight.

I would add that there are a lot of young men, full of testosterone, who have no female companions, thanks to their one-child policy. That energy has to go somewhere...

And we owe them less every day as they liquidate treasuries to prop-up state run businesses and redundant employment.

If there is a war, it will be because the the ChiComs need a distraction from economic contraction.

True. Plus Trump has been negotiating with the Chinese back when BO was a community organizer. It would not devolve to this show of blatant disrespect on a tarmac.

LOL! That's what I was thinking too.

His poor little narcissist ego must be severely bruised. *tee-hee* ;)

China can’t destroy our credit without first destroying their own. China buys our debt because they have to. It helps them value their currency relative to the US dollar. And in fact, to keep their Yuan from increasing, they have to buy more treasuries continually.

If they were to dump them on the market, their Yuan would spike and jobs would fly out of China. As it stands now, the rest of the pacific rim, India and Mexico are China’s competitors. So, China needs to keep their currency very low.

The US is happy to buy its own debt. Which it proved it can do. And unlike many have professed, buying our own debt has not caused inflation.

The world is in a deflationary stage. So, for a time, we can print all the money we like. And we will not have to deal with the normal punishment for inflating the currency base, rampant inflation. Because the world was forced to delever very quickly in 2008 (in the USA) and again in 2010 (in Europe), the virtual money supply shrunk and the Central Banks used Q.E. to simulate the deficit in usable assets, including currency.

The world has come to recognize that major currencies have value beyond their backing of the respective government. There is a stickiness to the value of currency relative to the complexity and size of a given economy. So you are aghast when a subway ride is $2.50 dollars. When it had been $2.00 the day before. So, you may look for alternatives. The people in the US are used to their prices and accept small increases from time to time. But they will change their ways if the increase is too large. We have an innate sense of value for our money. And because our economy is very large and complex we are able to live in our fantasy. Some countries like Venezuela and Brazil can’t. They are not large enough to maintain their fantasy. Its a lot like the effect of gravity. The larger the planet, the stronger the pull.

It’ll be fantastic. Great respect, believe me. “

Lol, Awesome!

That is the central issue across the planet. Nobody likes Barky. He is persona non grata everywhere. For the first time in our history as a nation every other nation is utterly contemptuous of the sissified bigot we have elected as president.

That has to be true.

I was in Europe as a teenager, in school for a semester. I was in Germany for a visit, and was in a cafe...the Germans HATED President Reagan. But that is because they really, truly feared and respected him.

No one respects Barky. Only the few delusional leftists who continue to support him.

Even some liberals (in Wisconsin, no less!) I know don't like him anymore.

One woman I know, a black woman from Chicago, can't stand how an entire block, where his house is, is basically off-limits. For example, no trick-or-treating allowed.

“Doesn’t have to be a war. They just stop advancing us credit. Our economy collapses.”

When you owe the bank 100,000, the bank owns you.

When you owe the bank 1,000,000, you own the bank.

China will dominate Russia. 100 years from now, most of Russia will be Chinese.

China’s economy is as frail as ours. They worry about hundreds of millions of their own people invading cities if their economy tanks. Their own weight can crush themselves. Nothing would save the commie party members from that many people.

That is the exact leverage Trump used to stage the biggest personal economic comeback in history. He’s actually in the Guinness book of records for it.

It’s an old business truism unknown to politicians, but I’m sure Trump is, as you say, well versed in it.
