We have an older man in our church who has Alzheimer’s, he lives in a nursing home. We’ve known each other for many years. His wife brings him to church.
I always make it a point to find him and shake hands with him and say, “Good morning Howard”, he returns the greeting pleasantly and asks me my name.
Last Sunday when he asked me my name, I told him my first name is the same as his middle name. His wife had to tell him his middle name, so I won’t be doing that again. I’ll just continue to tell him my name every time he asks.
It’s hard knowing who they were and seeing what has become of them.
Honor your father and your mother doesn’t end if they have bad health, does it?
