Mexican telenovelas are now more “of the people” but in 1984 my wife & I were in Acapulco & the telenovelas depicted nothing but blond castellanos in incredibly wealthy surroundings (kinda like our soaps used to be).

There’s a white European upper crust in Mexico to this day. Heck, even `man of the people’ Fidel Castro boasts of his 100% European blood, bragging that Euroblooded & illegitimate is preferable to coming from mixed race parents who were married to each other.
