GOP chairman blasts White House for stiff-arming Senate, predicts Paris climate deal will ‘fail’

The chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee denounced on Thursday the anticipated move by President Obama to enter into the Paris climate accord, accusing him of working around Congress on a deal doomed to failure.

Sen. Jim Inhofe, Oklahoma Republican, made his comments based on the widely expected announcement that Mr. Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping will jointly ratify this week the Paris Agreement, negotiated in December by 195 nations as part of the U.N. Conference of Parties (COP21).

“This latest announcement is the president attempting to once again give the international community the appearance that he can go around Congress in order to achieve his unpopular and widely rejected climate agenda for his legacy,” Mr. Inhofe said.

His statement comes as the first from Senate Republicans since last week’s report out of China that the presidents would enter into the agreement as early as Friday during Mr. Obama’s trip to China for the G-20 Summit.

Somebody needs to notify the Chinese that Presidents can’t ratify anything by themselves.

Jeez—How about just saying Obama doesn’t have the authority to ratify the “treaty” on his own and, as such, the US isn’t bound by any of its provisions.

This turkey in the WH reminds of a W.C. Fields movie where he said “Looking for loopholes,” Fields was funny but 0bama is not.

Depends on what you mean by “fail”. The people who attended the Paris summit all got to fly first-class to the meeting, stay in five-star hotels, eat at Michelin three-star restaurants, drank excellent wine and it was all paid for by taxpayers. Sounds like a “win” to me.

Where is McConnell on this? Getting his meds refilled, or buying a supply of prune juice with Senator McCain?

And where pray, is Paul Ryan?

Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping will jointly ratify...

Two observations:

1. Is "ratify" the next word for the 'Rats to redefine, aka, "Marriage"?

2. Perhaps "ratify" is the rat... er... I mean right word after all. TIn the sense that the 'Rats want to 'RATify their agenda.

No worries on this one, the Republican Senate will fold like a cheap tent and give Obama what he wants.
