I looked into immigration into Canada a few months ago. (For curiosity, only, I have no intent of emigrating from the US.) It doesn't look very difficult. The major road block to becoming a priority immigrant is that I need some sort of test to prove that I can get by in English and/or French.
Anyway, my point is that there is a reason Canada is always the first choice of those promising to leave the US. It's easy to get permission to enter the country.
I think they always threaten to come up to Canada because of proximity.
They can purchase some nice little home and stay here part time (just on our side of the border), then scoot home to be with friends, etc. whenever they like. I suspect if any of them actually “move”, it will be symbolic and they will retain their homes in America.
IOW, they’re full of it.
