No doubt. I’m not sure it has fully registered with the press and the pundits the magnitude of what Trump pulled off today. I was just reading a piece over at NRO and the writer said the event with Nieto went “pretty well”.

Regarding a possible deal, I wonder if maybe Trump agreed to back off of his boast that Mexico will pay for it in exchange for their public acceptance of the idea of the wall. To me that would be an acceptable concession if it kept them from being an obstacle. I’m going to be keeping and eye on whether the bit about them paying for it stays in his speeches.

Of that I am certain. I bet we will not hear that statement any further from Trump's lips. I've noticed about Trump that if you give him what he wants, he turns the charm back on.

As with me.

I will be shocked if we ever hear it again from Trump. It may be brought up as a question, and I hope he is read for that, but I doubt he will ever say it again.

I think he’ll still have Mexico pay for it, with a twist. illegal immigrants with felonies will be deported. Those who stay will need to have an American citizen put forward a $5000 bond. The immigrants have five years to pay back that bond interest free at $1000/year. After that they become legal. Voila. If half stay, 25 billion dollars up front, the exact cost of the wall. And Mexico pays for it.
