The world’s largest petroleum reserves and these assclowns have managed to run their corrupt socialist hellhole into the ground. Every one in the ruling regime deserves to be strung up. Ofc they will never relinquish power peacefully since they know what awaits them....
That rides high as long as the export rides high. But when it doesnt ride high... OH NOES! OMG!
If that was Venezuelas only problem they would not be in this situation.
Chavez milked PDVSA for everything it was worth and put nothing back in to the industry.
He propped up Cuba for years after it was abandoned by the former USSR.
He gave away oil. He even gave away money to needy states in his arch enemy the USA.
Chavez gave away so much that there was nothing left in the bank for maintenance or exploration for the PDVSA.
When you milk the cow but dont feed the cow it does not take long before the cow dries up.
Waste too, huh.
Bernie, Sean, Danny, Harry and the gang need to get down to Venezuela, ASAP. I’m sure with their vast knowledge of how market forces operate, they’ll have that socialist economy humming right along, and in record time.
We have a group of convenience stores that peddle Citgo. One is very close to me.
I drive right by it. Never buy gas there.
One of my three conscience boycotts.
The other two,
Target..started with their stance on Salvation Army red kettles, add bathroom stuff.
Toshiba... Russian sub propeller mess back during Reagan.
The very least Sean, Harry, et al could do is chip in on a boatload of toilet paper for the people..
“Their money is printed outside of Venezuela, and they can’t afford to pay for it.”
When your money is worth so little that the private printer won’t accept payment in the form of simply withholding some of the product, your money is worthless.
30 to 60 days ?
put 3000 more families onto the welfare rolls on STX and left Venz out to dry in the process
if they have no gas, let them drive electric cars
Since he sent all the city folk to work in the fields....
he can send all the farmers to work in the oil refinery and drilling operation.
This is a scene that’s played out half a dozen times in the last century in these banana republics. Strong-arm socialist crook (but I repeat myself) seizes power, promising “the people” a lot of bolshevik borscht. The faltering economy plummets, bread lines form, shelves are stripped. “The people” startagitating against the failures of “thelr” government, which responds by claming down the lid on dissent and making a bunch of hollow gestures designed to placate the masses. They don’t work. Starvation looms. Riots begin. The government crushes the rebellion without mercy so it goes underground. Eventually the game of internecine whack-a-mole gathers enough momentum that one day you read where the president and most of his cabinet have packed a few suitcases full of money and left the palace in the middle of the night.
Then a new overlord steps up onto the pile of rubble and promises reform and power to the people.
Only socialists could screw up oil production.
Yes, diversify, as in kick the current regime out of office and "diversify" into someone more capitalism-oriented.
Venezuela is stuck with a one tune leader and no one likes the song.
FReepers have commented that Venezuela, as a retrograde 3rd world country, has little or no refining capacity.
Common sense would have been to invest in refining capacity back when they had mucho $$$ rolling in.
Not to mention that their currency is so worthless it costs more to print any bill lower than 100 bolivars in denomination. [the 100 bolivar bill is worth a couple of cents U.S., at least as of a couple months ago.]
