I blew the whistle on the trashing of men, especially white men, back in the 90s. I was scoffed at and ridiculed, but I was right.
I agree, no-fault divorce is perhaps the single worst factor in the Left’s project of destroying America.
And, of course, if you owe child support you don’t want to work over the table.
Nail on the head, thanks.
Well, what do you do? How much are you willing to bet?
Which is in itself a problem.
congratulations
Yes. Me too.
“outside of a few locations or specialized skill areas,
there are almost NO jobs in Obamas Transformed Amerika” for those office workers unwilling to do actual manual labor or learn a skilled trade.
Tripe.
You are one of a million that the legal profession has ripped and stripped. The entire divorce process is rigged against white males.
Why should anyone feel he has to work? It is perfectly okay to pursue other vocations like art and music and TV watching. After all the government is there to support him so you can indulge his higher self.
Yes. Each time I am increasing my income, — lucky for me I am in a growing industry, — the expenses immediately catch up. I don’t feel richer.
The difference today is leisure time on the media. But from the 90s I remember men in semi-rural setting that actually were busy doing casual work: a paint job here, a roof job there, landscaping, working on cars with friends, all strictly on cash economy. Who knows how often a welfare check came alongside the cash earnings. For people who could be employed in an industrial economy there is little incentive to participate in the mainstream post-industrial economy.
At the same time, the jobs are available for them, —they are just not the kind of jobs that can improve their living standard.
of course
Like was noted before, the divorce and custody laws destroyed the American working class.
Pelosi fixed it so these men could “follow their dream” of playing Grand Theft Auto, binge-watching Game of Thrones, drinking beer, popping prescription pills, and “using” internet porn all day long.
Most of these men the article references have probably never been married.
Jobs are relative to the desired standard of living. It is true that except some hot industries and occupations, there are no jobs of the kind people would like to get. That is, typically, industrial jobs. But there are jobs that don’t pay enough to attract people who would rather collect welfare and play video games.
Re-industrialize.
That is the mechanism, yes. But the resulting social phenomenon is what the author describe: men who learned not to work too hard, if at all.
