Well, for give me if I am wrong, but near as I can figure it, a dead atheist has a sure fire ticket, all expenses paid, to a nice warm place in Hell.
I’ve never understood atheism, we’ve got nothing to lose by believing, but a guaranteed loss by disbelieving.
“...weve got nothing to lose by believing, but a guaranteed loss by disbelieving.”
Money quote! Every now and then I ask, “what if those damned atheists are right?” but it quickly passes. Several times a day something good happens that makes me look up and say, “thank You, Lord”. Too much evidence out there of His presence and goodness. I just look around and say, “All this is nothing but a massive cosmic accident. Yeah, right.”
Guess I’m not smart enough to be an atheist. Most of them are arrogant know-it-alls.
Here's an interesting concept, related to your post...
Pascal's Wager
Blaise Pascal (1623-1662) offers a pragmatic reason for believing in God: even under the assumption that Gods existence is unlikely, the potential benefits of believing are so vast as to make betting on theism rational. The super-dominance form of the argument conveys the basic Pascalian idea, the expectations argument refines it, and the dominating expectations argument gives a more sophisticated version still.
