That is because it is a police rifle. If it had been a private range, different story.
If it's an actual M4 in police service, not some m4orgery, then it is by correct definition an "assault rifle" (intermediate cartridge, select fire switch). The media didn't report it as such because they are allergic to telling the truth. Also, the assault rifle didn't jump out of Trump's hands and murder everyone around him, so it's not following PC narrative.
